The Christians gain new support from the outcasts of the tribe. The church is growing, and so is the concern among Okonkwo and the elders. Okonkwo insists that the church be removed through violent actions while the elders decide that it is best to ignore and ostracize the converts. One of the outcasts who had recently joined the church was bragging about killing the "sacred royal python". Later it is found out that he has been killed. This reassures the elders and Okonkwo that the Gods are acting in their favor against the church. How is the church gaining so many followers? What is the main reason of dissent against the Christians?
